To apply please complete a BOOKING FORM and Mission Application Form and return to the Mission Travel office with a $500 deposit and a copy of your Working with Children Check. If you don't have a Working with Children ID please apply at http://www.justice.vic.gov.au/workingwithchildren/ in Victoria or https://check.kids.nsw.gov.au/ in NSW.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ's)
1. Do I need a visa to enter Vietnam?
Yes, Australian passport holders do require a visa to enter Vietnam. Click here for the visa application form.
The visa fee is $72 plus a $50 courier fee to get your passport to Sydney for processing.
2. What if I do not have AUSTSWIM accreditation?
You are welcome to attend the Swim mission but you cannot instruct swimming lessons UNLESS you have Austswim accreditation. For more information about Austswim go to www.austswim.com.au
If you are not instructing you can either have the time free or come along to the swim lessons and spectate.
3. Can I bring a friend/family members if they do not want to teach swimming?
Absolutely they are welcome. While the swimming lessons are on, they can volunteer at the pool in other ways or spend time back at the hotel or free time around town.
4. When do I need to book by?
We prefer you book immediately to avoid disappointment. It will also enable us to ensure others (who are considering coming along) that there are people already committed. Bookings close on Friday March 30, 2012 unless filled prior.
5. Can I extend my stay in Vietnam?
Yes, you are welcome to extend your stay. There are so many other great places in Vietnam to explore. These include Sapa, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and so many other places. We can assist you with travel tips and arrangements or you can go it alone. Please note extensions must be taken at the END of the mission. It is important that everyone travels from Australia together in order to qualify for the group airfare we have booked. otherwise we can offer you a land only costing and you purchase a separate airfare. There is a fee of $100 to extend your stay and "split off" from the group fare.
6. What will the weather be like in July?
It will be HOT! A great time to be in a swimming pool! Average temperature in July is 32 degrees. It is the start of the wet season as well so pack an umbrella or water jacket.
7. Do I need travel vaccinations?
This needs to verified by your local doctor or you are welcome to see a travel specialist such as www.traveldoctor.com.au for advice.
8. How much is travel insurance?
For the duration of the Swim mission (30 June-14 July) comprehensive cover will be approximately $150.00. See PDS for details of cover.
However this is can change depending on your age and if you have any pre-existing medical conditions. Please speak to one of our staff to discuss these matters.
9. Who is the organisation we will be working with in Vietnam?
Swim Vietnam is the organisation that co-ordinates the swim instruction in Hoi An. For more information on Swim Vietnam click HERE
